Is Mikel Silvestre a good signing for the Gooners?

I don't think he is a first team player, but more of a defensive consultant if we can call him that.

He is french and I think there is that comonality between him and the other frenchies in the Gooners back line.

If he stays fit then possibly, also if he doesn't play enough he'll continue to be way off from an exceptable standard... and won't be reliable enough when called upon!

excellent, experienced backup to clichy - just what we need. this allows traore to go portsmouth on loan and learn from the maestro of defending himself - big tone.

it's all falling into place... :-)

What will fall into place is when united play Arsenal, and Silvestre keeps passing the ball to united players by habit and we romp to victory!!! Just like what Nicky Butt did when we played Newcastle after he had just joined them!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

do you seriously think Fergie would have let him go for so cheap to provide the defensive cover that Arsenal desperately needed if he thought that Silvestre was any good?

As if he would sell a cut price player to help out his rivals.

Silvestre is NOT the player to solve Arsenal's worries. They need an improvement on TOure and Gallas. Silvestre is barely an improvement on Senderos and Djourou
