Do you think Man City will topple the top four and break their monopoly? How do Arsenal fans feel about such big spending in contrast to theirs?

The Transfer window slammed shut at midnight last night with some sensational transfers going through at the death. United finally captured their star man which could be the coup of the summer in terms of proven premiership ability. However, the most exciting signing to take place has to be the Robinho deal in terms of taking all factors into consideration. A summer of shenanigans from Real Madrid commencing with the attempt to offload Robinho to United in an exchange deal to bring Ronlado to the Bernabeau, and thus outraging a player, which has ultimately seen him try and engineer a deal through to Chelsea with his recent slave press conference. And with the weekends well documented Robinho shirts being sold on an official Chelski website, and in turn Real's absolute disgust with their sheer arrogance (sounds ironically familiar) Real decided Chelsea were not going to get their star player. However, the players position had by this stage become untenable, and Madrid were in a spot of bother completely down to their own doing, and that’s when City stepped into the centre of the saga and in doing so answering Madrid prayers. Finally capitulating with the signing of the Brazilian super star for a British record transfer fee.

In an interview with New Manchester City boss Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim, he has outlined his future plans in considering a $240 million bid for Manchester United superstar Ronaldo during the next transfer window in January,

“Ronaldo has said he wants to play for the biggest club in the world, so we will see in January if he is serious.

"Real Madrid were estimating his value at $160 million but for a player like that, to actually get him, will cost a lot more, I would think $240 million.

"But why not? We are going to be the biggest club in the world, bigger than both Real Madrid and Manchester United.”

Crazy!

I think City's old rival is sitting across Manchester thinking "shit".

Being the biggest club in the world is more then just your bank balance to me. It has to include things like fan base, history and whole host of other prerequisites to even be considered one of the biggest.

Le sulk, or how ever you say it in Bulgarian could be fantastic, but time will tell. I just can't see Rooney or Tevez and him on the same pitch... It's crazy, I know. I'll eat my words later on request.

Ol twinkle toes is definitely up there with the Ronaldos. Can he survive in the highly physical Premiership also remains to be seen.

hmmm.... Out of the top 4, who should be most worried ? Liverpool me thinks. They barely make it every year and didn't even do so during 2005. "You'll never walk alone" might be their anthem, but I think they'll be walking alone down the table and out the door will be the man with the silly goatee...

As a Chelsea fan this is a pretty embarrassing day! But there are one or two good things to take from it.

Firstly we didn't not pay the extra money for Robinho because we couldn’t afford it, but because we are finally not letting teams screw us over. Kenyon told Madrid this is how much we think he is worth we won't go over it and stuck to his guns. Hopefully this will bring a new period to Chelsea’s signings were we pay the correct price rather then the hugely inflated "Abramovich price"

My other point is that city will take some time at least 2 seasons to get to a position to challenge Chelsea or ManUre for the league so this is only short term embarrassment for us at the moment. But it is a long and instant problem for Arsenal and Liverpool who will be in huge financial trouble if they loose their Champions league place to City and for Spurs who now look as if they will never break into Europe’s main competition

Well well well it has been a pretty good week all in all, well almost. Chelski and Liverpoo both dropping points on the weekend. Torres and Gerard out for the united clash, plus egg on Chelski's face; always enjoyable when they are made mugs out of.... not quite as satisfying as last year, but hey every blow is an own goal!!! Obviously I would have preferred any other club barring ARSEnal and City being taking over by such a rich consortium, but I still believe United with their history, fan base, current squad and honours etc. don't have too much to worry about... for the next couple of years at least.

Just in response to Daniel's comment.

Because Chelskey started the trend to pay over the odds prices for players(SWP anyone?), it isn't going to stop. It is just going to get worse and become the norm. If Chelsea still want to compete they will have to pay the price for what I think they started.

They Premier League should be renamed to "The Fantasy League" for billionaires of course.

Chelsea did not start it Man u and Madrid had been paying huge sums for players years before Roman came eg Veron Rio Zidan etc.

a counter argument to that is that those teams historically brought in top quality player who would a)sell shirts/merchandise and b)dramatically improve their respective teams.

It is football so the quality of the signing can never be guarenteed.

Chelsky paid 21 odd for SWP, 30 for Sheva(huga massive LOL), Paulo Farrera and genrally disregarded the true value of players. If you ask me Zidane was worth every cent, if not more!

The likes of Real would never bring in a player for the sake of it... No real business could afford to do that.

Now that there is a level playing field off the pitch, Chelsea should not cry, or moan, or bitch, or complain about how unfair it is. Because Chelsky adopted the Fantasy League strategy and now have to live with it!

Arsenal dont spend as little as they would have you believe. Wage bills are the highest expenditure of any football club, and Danny Fizsman cant stop bleating about how Arsenal spend 25 million more on wages than Liverpool do every season - therefore they are not as hard done by as their fans would have you believe. They actually spend more on players than say Liverpool do every season if you include wages.

Also Man United spent massively in order to win the league in the first place - its not just chelsea that did it. Fergie failed miserably for 7 years before assembling (wisely) the most expensive squad in Britain and then they won it. He just did it at the right time for Man U to become a superpower (helped by having a fanbase, excellent commercial department and continued success). Fergie has managed them extraordinarily well since. Blackburn did the same and won the league. Now Chelsea and Man city are doing it. Nothing new. Its just that the sums of money are massively bigger nowadays
